Here's a little background...
I left home @ 15 and developed manipulative skills to get what I needed. Eventually, I got very good at convincing people that they wanted to provide for me, without their knowledge of it, and therefor, no regret. A few years later, I decided it wasn't fair and consciously tried to stop doing it. Now, many years later, I still unconsciously use it (Last night I walked into a club past the door person without paying, and got food for free ). It takes almost no effort to get, or do things, or convince people of things, and I have been wondering if this is okay. I hope this makes sense, and if it doesn't, please ask me anything. The simplified question is this: If you could use the Jedi mind trick, would you? If so, how often, and to what extent?
Please help me, as this is a serious moral dillemma.

Re: If one has the Jedi mind trick, is it fair to use it? (This is a serious question)
Sat, March 17, 2007 - 7:13 AMNo. Because hurting others (and stealing is hurting others) hurts the thief, possibly even more than his victim. (unless the thief is a psychopath/sociopath ..in that case there is no hope for him or society).
Committing a crime or injustice against another, simply because you can get away with it, slowly erodes your own self image, which is probably why you asked the question. That's a good sign that you have a conscience and are not a sociopath.

Sat, March 17, 2007 - 11:10 AMTake another bite of that apple, Jesse, and listen to what your heart says to you. I believe you already have your answer, yet seek out reasons why.
Be it mind~influencing magic or another form of manipulation, you are intentionally attempting to challenge another individual's ability to make a clear choice for your selfish reasons, building more of a wall between the two of you, and not honoring the connection you share. EveryOne has a lesson for you. Next time, maybe ask yourself, "Do I NEED to do this?"
QUESTION: What gifts may be possible to share with an ability like that?

Re: If one has the Jedi mind trick, is it fair to use it? (This is a serious question)
Sun, March 18, 2007 - 3:07 AMThank you for the great replies! I hope it's okay to have follow-up questions. I don't usually notice this "mind trick" happening until after it happens. For instance, I didn't realize the door person was collecting money when I walked by, and after ordering my food, the waitress never asked me to pay, even after coming by again several times. I should have reminded her, and paid the door person, once I knew she was taking money.
I should have mentioned that I use this non-verbal communication for good as often as possible (usually to have people communicate more clearly).
